The Amazing Spectacle of Starling Murmurations
This short 2-minute film by Jan van IJken shows the magic of starling murmurations. These incredible “dances” can involve thousands of birds, providing photographers and film-makers with ample photographic opportunities.
The patterns can take any sorts of forms, and sometimes there are even shapes that you can relate to formed for a brief moment before the flock shifts its position again.
These images were shot in the winter of 2014/2015, but only now has IJken uploaded them online. It’s beautiful to watch, and should provide some inspiration for keen bird watchers and photographers.
