SpyderX is the Latest Screen Calibration Tool from Datacolor
Colour management is key to any post-processing workflow, and a good calibration tool makes it all the easier. That’s why colour management expert Datacolor has today released an all-new piece of calibration kit – the SpyderX.
According to the company, it is their “fastest, most accurate and easiest to use” colour calibration tool for monitors. The SpyderX wields a completely redesigned colour engine, meaning a huge boost to colour accuracy and low-light performance – two essential components for professional and amateur photographers alike.
“We know photography is a labor of love, and a lot goes into taking every shot,” says Susan Bunting, Director of Marketing at Datacolor. “That’s why we’ve redesigned SpyderX from the ground up, ensuring you can trust the color on your screen while making the whole process of calibration as intuitive and quick as possible.”
The SpyderX is touted to be several times faster than previous models, making calibration a breeze in under two minutes. Datacolor also claims that it will be incredibly easy to use, with single-click calibration available alongside more advanced options.
Compatible with both desktop and laptop displays, calibration can be customised depending on your photographic requirements and technical knowledge.
The calibration tool is available in two separate versions: the SpyderX Pro and the SpyderX Elite. The SpyderX Pro is “designed for serious photographers and designers” seeking a quick and streamlined calibration experience.
But with the Elite version, calibration is taken to the next level, offering “ultimate control” through more advanced settings suitable for both photographers and videographers. Video and cinema calibration targets are possible with the Elite, and it can also be used to calibrate projectors.
The difference between the two is seen in the price: £156 for the Elite and £243 for the Pro respectively. Prices are yet to be confirmed for US and Australia.
