Weekly Photography Assignment: Wildlife Portraits
Each week we’ll be giving you a theme that you can submit a photo for, and we’ll choose our favouritebe featured on the Nature TTL website. Participating in these assignments will be a great way for you to encourage yourself to push the boundaries of your photography and improve together as a community on the website.
Week 258: Wildlife Portraits
Our theme this week is Wildlife Portraits, and we’d love to see how you might photograph wildlife found in your local area this week. We’re looking for images that showcase wildlife in the form of a portrait, whether it be close up and frame filling, or a wider, more environmental shot. Perhaps you will catch your subject staring straight down the lens in a moment of eye contact, or maybe you will try special lighting techniques, like backlighting or rim lightting to highlight your animal’s unique silhouette. Whether you’re a seasoned nature photographer, or are new to the genre, the options for capturing new and interesting wildlife portraits are endless, and we can’t wait to see what inspiring shots you can create.
Here are some tutorials to help you:

Last week’s winner
Last week’s theme was Water – and our favourite image this week is:
This week’s winner is this image, captured by Zoltan Dobany. This is a beautiful capture of ‘water’ in a unique and engaging format. It’s a great reminder to look for the smaller details in nature sometimes; you might find some magic in the places we forget to look! The balance of foreground and background allows us to really focus on the crisp subject and wonderfully rendered reflections in the water droplets.
Well done, and thank you to all who entered!
