3 New Nikon Lenses Announced
This morning saw three new lenses join Nikon’s line-up. They’re all on the shorter side of focal lengths this time round, so landscape photographers and camera trap fanatics… listen up!
Nikon AF-S 28mm f/1.4E ED
This is a 28mm wide-angle fixed focal length lens. It “reproduces the natural expansion of space”.
- Consistently superior resolution, all the way to the edges of the imaging area, beginning at the maximum aperture
- Beautiful bokeh that utilises the speed (brightness) of the f/1.4 maximum aperture
- Effective suppression of sagittal coma flare, often visible as the elongation or distortion of point images in night landscapes, for superior point image reproduction characteristics beginning at the maximum aperture
- Adoption of two ED glass elements for effective compensation of axial chromatic aberration
- Nano Crystal Coat adopted achieving effective reduction of ghost and flare for sharp, clear images
- Sample photos (more here)
- Full press release
The Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 28mm f/1.4E ED will be available in late June. Pre-order here at the suggested retail price of $1999.95.
Nikon AF-S Fisheye 8-15mm f/3.5-4.5E ED
- Enables shooting at an angle of view of 180° vertical and horizontal (circular fisheye) when zoomed all the way out, and 180° diagonal (full-frame fisheye) when zoomed close to all the way in with shooting in FX format
- A full-frame fisheye effect with a diagonal angle of view of up to 180° can be achieved in the range that begins at the DX mark* on the lens and ends at the maximum telephoto position with shooting in DX format
- Realizes very sharp and clear rendering from maximum aperture throughout the zoom range
- A minimum focus distance of 0.16 m (0.5 ft.) and a maximum reproduction ratio of 0.34x enable sharp and clear rendering, even with shooting at close distances
- Adoption of three ED glass elements provides effective compensation for lateral chromatic aberration, minimizing color bleed at the edges of the frame
- Nano Crystal Coat adopted to effectively reduce ghost and flare for sharp, clear images
- Adopted a dust- and drip-resistant structure with all moving parts of the lens barrel
- Highly durable fluorine coat that effectively repels dust, water, grease, and dirt applied to the outer surfaces of the two lens elements at either end (front and rear) of the lens

The Nikon AF-S Fisheye NIKKOR 8-15mm f/3.5-4.5E ED will be available immediately for a suggested retail price of $1249.95.
Nikon AF-P DX 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR
- Support for the 10-20mm*1 range of focal lengths, which allows users to enjoy full-scale ultra-wide-angle photography
- A compact and lightweight lens that can easily be taken anywhere
- Adoption of three aspherical lens elements with the latest optical design achieves superior rendering performance
- A vibration reduction (VR) function that effectively reduces image blur caused by camera shake to a degree equivalent to a 3.5-stop increase in shutter speed (testing based on CIPA standards)*2
- Adoption of a stepping motor (STM) enables even quieter AF drive operation, making it also ideal for movie recording
- A focus ring that rotates smoothly for good operational feel with manual focusing
- A maximum reproduction ratio of 0.17x and a minimum focus distance of 0.22 m (0.8 ft) enable extremely close-up shooting for bold and magnificent expression of the intended subject
- Angle of view equivalent to that of a 15-30mm lens in 35mm [135] format.
- At the maximum telephoto position when a digital SLR camera equipped with an APS-C size image sensor is used.
- Specifications, design, product name and supplied accessories may differ by country or area. Specifications and equipment are subject to change without any notice or obligation on the part of the manufacturer.
