Weekly Photography Assignment: Bird Behaviour

Each week we’ll be giving you a theme that you can submit a photo for, and we’ll choose our favourite to be featured on the Nature TTL website. Participating in these assignments will be a great way for you to encourage yourself to push the boundaries of your photography and improve together as a community on the website.

Week 234: Bird Behaviour

Our theme this week is Bird Behaviour, and we’d love to see what creative images you can take of birds in nature! Birds are a fascinating subject for photography, and they can be found pretty much anywhere, at any time of the year! This week, we’d like you to look specifically at photographing bird behaviour. Watch for birds interacting with eachother, or looking for food, or preening themselves. Try to tell a story in your images! Whether you’re a seasoned nature photographer, or are new to the genre, the options for awesome bird behaviour photographs are endless, and we can’t wait to see what inspiring images you can create.

Last week’s winner

Last week’s theme was Insects – and our favourite image this week is:

This week’s winner is this image, captured by Pam Mullins: We love the use of light here, and the contrasting elements of dark and light. The darkness of the background helps draw our eye to the subject, which is beautifully lit and handsomely displays the intricate detail of this insect’s wings and body. Well done, and thank you to all who entered!
