Weekly Photography Assignment: Creative Nature

Each week we’ll be giving you a theme that you can submit a photo for, and we’ll choose our favourite to be featured on the Nature TTL website. Participating in these assignments will be a great way for you to encourage yourself to push the boundaries of your photography and improve together as a community on the website.

Week 222: Creative Nature

Our theme this week is Creative Nature, and we’d love to see what creative images you can take of nature, thinking outside the box! This week we want you to look for unsual ways to photograph the nature around you. Try a new or unsual photographic technique, such as intentional camera movement. Look for new and unique perspectives and compositions, even for familiar subjects. Create an abstract image by getting in close, or try focusing on one part of an animal or scene. Try a new form of lighting, or edit your images in a new way! Whether you’re a seasoned nature photographer, or are new to the genre, the options for creative nature photos are endless, and we can’t wait to see what inspiring images you can create.

Here are some tutorials to help you:

Last week’s winner

Last week’s theme was Wildlife Action – and our favourite image this week is:

This week’s winner is this image, captured by Pam Mullins: We love the way that the action in this wildlife shot has been kept pin-sharp. This is highly effective in ‘freezing the moment,’ and draws us into the image, making us feel as though we are really there, witnessing this awesome moment alongside the photographer! The composition allows us to focus on the main character in the left of the image, and aids in telling a dramatic and engaging a story. Well done, and thank you to all who entered!
