Weekly Photography Assignment: Minimalistic

Each week we’ll be giving you a theme that you can submit a photo for, and we’ll choose our favourite to be featured on the Nature TTL website. Participating in these assignments will be a great way for you to force yourself to push the boundaries of your photography and improve together as a community on the website.

Week 160: Minimalistic

Our theme this week is Minimalistic and we’d love to see what minimalist-inspired creative nature images you can take! Perhaps you will photograph a lone animal against a simple backdrop, drawing our attention to the subject in question? Maybe you will photograph a landscape in black and white, with simple lines and shapes? Or perhaps you’ll get down to ground level and find a minimalistic pattern or detail with your macro lens? The options are endless, and we can’t wait to see what minimalistic nature photos you can create!

Here are some tutorials to help you:

Last week’s winner

Last week’s theme was Perspective – and our favourite image this week is:

This week’s winner is this image, captured by Eldrik Ajiyi, ‘Looking for a new perspective on ordinary trees all around me.’ We love the use of contrast, and the artistic feel of this image, and way this photographer has turned an ‘ordinary’ subject into something special. It reminds us all to look up when out in nature, and to try out new perspectives in our photography. Well done, and thank you to all who entered!
